Manchester United are reportedly confident of securing an agreement for Willian from Premier League rivals Chelsea. The Brazil international has been heavily tipped to leave Stamford Bridge since the close of the campaign and according to The Sun, they are prepared to beat Barcelona to the player’s services.
As per the publication, United are set to lodge a bid worth £60m during the ongoing transfer window and the close relationship between Mourinho and Willian may enhance the latter’s arrival at Old Trafford.
Willian had his best season with the Blues last term as he notched 13 goals across all competitions but he was nevertheless frustrated with nearly half of his gametime coming off the substitutes’ bench.
Towards the end of the campaign, his relationship with Antonio Conte appeared to take a downward spiral and it will be interesting to see whether the Brazilian still fancies working under the Italian.
Chelsea are yet to sanction any major deals with the uncertainty over their managerial situation but the next few weeks should give a clear indication – with the transfer window closing on the Thursday prior to the new Premier League season.
