Manchester United are reportedly close to sanctioning the sale of Daley Blind to former club Ajax. The Netherlands international joined the Red Devils from the Amsterdam outfit during Louis van Gaal’s time in charge and he was a regular during the Dutchman’s two seasons at Old Trafford.
However, his gametime has been vastly reduced under the management of Jose Mourinho and he has eventually agreed to return to the Eredivisie after making just four league starts during the previous campaign.
According to BBC Sport, Ajax are expected to pay up a fee of around £14m which could rise to £18.5m based on add-ons and the move is expected to be completed once the Dutchman has a successful medical.
With Blind’s exit, United now have only three senior left-backs in the form of Marcos Rojo, Luke Shaw and Ashley Young but the latter is certain to miss the start of the campaign owing to his exploits at the World Cup.
Mourinho’s side have been constantly with a move for Alex Sandro from Juventus but so far, they have not make any approach for the Brazilian, who is presently valued between £31m to £35m.
