Liverpool could reportedly compete with Paris Saint-Germain to secure the signature of Gianluigi Donnarumma from AC Milan this summer. The Italy international was previously tipped to leave the Rossoneri last year but he instead signed a fresh four-year contract with the club.
Donnarumma has continued to produce a number of top-notch performances for the San Siro outfit barring the past couple of weeks, where he has come under fan criticism for his notable blunders between the sticks.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Jurgen Klopp’s side are among the contenders for Donnarumma who is likely to be cashed in during this summer’s transfer window. The Rossoneri have maintained their not-for-sale stance over the past 12 months and this does not appear the case anymore as they require to balance their financial books.
Klopp has utilised Loris Karius as the Reds number one ahead of Simon Mignolet since the turn of the year, but according to reports, the German is likely to pursue a top-class shot-stopper, considering the latter is widely expected to leave Anfield.
Despite this, Donnarumma is unlikely to come on the cheap for any interested parties and the Reds have to pay up a fee in excess of £54m in order to have any chance of acquiring his signature. League rivals Manchester United have been credited with an interest in the past owing to their regular business with super-agent Mino Raiola.
