Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has refused to confirm the extent of Romelu Lukaku’s foot injury but he is hopeful that it would not keep him out of the FA Cup final against Chelsea next month.
The Belgium international was forced off the pitch early in the second period against Arsenal following a strong challenge from Konstantinos Mavropanos, who earned plaudits on his Gunners debut.
Speaking after the game, Mourinho insisted that he does not know the extent of the problem but he is optimistic that the marksman would return prior to the Cup showdown versus his former employers.
Lukaku has largely been consistent with his goalscoring this campaign and this has witnessed him enjoy his best-ever scoring season of his career with 29 goals across all competitions for United.
Mourinho has already highlighted that he would not be pursuing a new striker during the summer and Lukaku could cement his spot for the long-term with Marcus Rashford the sole player competing alongside him.
