Chelsea close to appointing Antonio Conte’s replacement after talks

Chelsea are reportedly close to finalising a deal with Antonio Conte’s successor. The Blues are expected to part ways with the Italian during the summer, and Sport claims that the club are close to reaching an agreement with his replacement.

As per Sport, the west London giants have already begun discussions with former Barcelona coach Luis Enrique and the 47-year-old is currently the favourite to become the next Blues head coach.

Cross-town rivals Arsenal have also been credited with an interest in Enrique, but the Spaniard is supposedly said to favour the project at Stamford Bridge than that at the Emirates Stadium.

Enrique has yet to put pen-to-paper on pre-contract with the Blues but a resolution is likely to be reached in the coming weeks with the club’s hierarchy keen to speed up their recruitment.

Conte has guided Chelsea to the final of this season’s FA Cup but even winning the competition is unlikely to assure his stay, owing to his public criticism over the club’s transfer policy this term.
