Arsenal have reportedly made it clear to midfielder Jack Wilshere that they are unlikely to offer him an improved package to the one placed on the table. The England international is currently in a contract impasse with the Gunners, having snubbed their contractual terms earlier this month.
According to The Telegraph, the north London giants are reluctant to offer more than £90,000-a-week in Wilshere’s proposed extension, and this happens to include a 25 percent reduction on what he is currently earning at the Emirates Stadium.
Wilshere’s inability to maintain his fitness over a longer periods is said to be a concern for the Gunners, and though his salary is being incremented through performance-based incentives, the midfielder would rather prefer a straight offer to commit to.
As things stand, the 26-year-old could bid a tearful goodbye to his beloved club during the summer, but the Gunners faithful will hope that either Wilshere or the club are willing to negotiate. Arsene Wenger has previously tipped Wilshere to become a permanent captain at Arsenal.
