Arsenal are reportedly planning to shatter their transfer record for the third time in as many transfer windows. The Gunners have set their sights on pursuing a replacement for Petr Cech, who has been inconsistent with his performances this term.
According to Spanish outlet AS, the Gunners are looking into a potential deal for Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak, with the club’s head of operations Raul Sanllehi having already made contact with the Madrid giants.
Despite this, the north London club may have to still trigger the player’s £88m valuation to attain his signature whilst also assuring him of Champions League football for the 2018/19 season.
Arsenal are unlikely to finish in the top-four of the Premier League during the ongoing campaign, and their chances of signing Oblak may depend on whether they can managed to win the Europa League title, which would offer them a route to the elite competition.
