Manchester United have named their strongest possible side ahead of this afternoon’s Premier League clash versus Chelsea. United boss Jose Mourinho has opted to stick with the same backline from the previous outing with changes in midfield and upfront.
Paul Pogba has returned to the lineup after starting from the bench in the midweek Sevilla game whilst Anthony Martial is likely to feature on the right side of the attack, where he will replace ex-Blues midfielder Juan Mata.
Manchester United (4-3-3): De Gea, Valencia, Smalling, Lindelof, Young, Matic, McTominay, Pogba, Sanchez, Lukaku, Martial. Substitutes: Pereira, Bailly, Shaw, Carrick, Mata, Lingard, Rashford.
Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte had opted to go with an identical backline from the Barcelona game. Cesc Fabregas has made way from the midfield for Danny Drinkwater whilst Alvaro Morata has got the nod over Pedro and is set to lead the line for the Blues.
Chelsea (3-4-3): Courtois, Azpilicueta, Rudiger, Christensen, Moses, Kante, Drinkwater, Alonso, Hazard, Morata, Willian. Substitutes: Caballero, Cahill, Zappacosta, Emerson, Fabregas, Pedro, Giroud.
Manchester United have claimed just a solitary victory in six previous meetings versus the Blues at Old Trafford, but they should still fancy themselves to put in a strong display with the home advantage.
Mourinho has lost three of the last four meetings versus Chelsea since departing them in December 2016. The only triumph come in a 2-0 result at Old Trafford last term where Marcus Rashford and Ander Herrera bagged the goals in either half.
