Mkhitaryan is due to join the Gunners in a straight swap for Alexis Sanchez as mentioned, and he is the club’s second recruit in the month after the capture of young Greek defender Konstantinos Mavropanos from PAS Giannina.
Meanwhile, the north London side have lodged an opening attempt to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but their €50m bid has been deemed to be below the German side’s €60m valuation.
Despite this, an agreement is due to be finalised before the transfer deadline with Aubameyang said to have already agreed on a three-and-a-half year deal to make the switch to the Emirates Stadium.
Arsene Wenger recently suggested that ‘nothing is happening’ in regards to Aubameyang’s pursuit, but you could sense that the club are making inroads towards a player, who could reverse the club’s league fortunes in the second half of the season.
