Liverpool are reportedly not interested in pursuing the services of Riyad Mahrez, who is also interest to the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea. A recent report suggested that the Algerian international was on the cusp of joining the Reds in a £50m deal, and the move was only subject to a medical being finalized.
However, according to Sky Sports News, there has been no contact between the Reds and Leicester City, and the east Midlands side have maintained their demand for a £50m sum, if they are to part ways with the attacker this month.
Mahrez had handed in a transfer request earlier in the summer, this had attracted from AS Roma, in particular. The Italian giants, however, fell short of matching the Foxes’ valuation for the winger, and he has since contributed towards the club’s upturn in form in the English top-flight.
Meanwhile, a separate report from The Mirror suggests that the Algerian could make his way to the Gunners this month with Arsene Wenger keen on pursuing his services first before offloading contract rebel Alexis Sanchez.
Liverpool sanctioned the sale of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona in the late hours of Saturday, and they are likely to bring in a new recruit, though Jurgen Klopp has yet to find a suitable replacement.
