Arsenal legend Ray Parlour feels Chelsea should lodge an attempt to sign Gunners striker Olivier Giroud this month. The France international has been starved of regular action this term with just a solitary league start in the top-flight.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Parlour believes Giroud would be the perfect signing for the west London side, who are on the hunt for a target man upfront this month. Arsene Wenger’s side are unlikely to entertain losing another player to a direct rival, but Parlour feels the Blues could do business, if a decent offer is presented on the table.
“He would be perfect.Whether Arsenal would want to lose another of their players to a rival is another matter. But I am sure if Chelsea put a decent bid in he would be tempted because he hasn’t got to move, he can live in London, a bit like Petr Cech. He was settled in London and wanted to stay there,” Parlour told Sky Sports.
Giroud has already been linked with a potential part-exchange deal involving Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund, but his representative has previously suggested that the Frenchman would like to stay put in the English capital where his family is settled.
The likes of West Ham United and Crystal Palace have previously credited with an interest in the former Montpellier man, but the speculation has diminished of late with the marksman recuperating from a hamstring problem.
