Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has reportedly set his sights on a reunion with Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with Daniel Sturridge seemingly on his way out Anfield this winter.
According to The Express, the Reds could secure the services of Aubameyang in the New Year with his relationship with Dortmund having broken down over the past few months.
The Gabon international has had disciplinary issues on and off the field since the summer, and the Schalke game looks pretty much the last straw after his sending off cost his team heavily in a 4-4 draw, where they led 4-0 at half-time.
Sturridge has been restricted of regular gametime under Klopp this term, and the Englishman is eyeing a move to AC Milan, where he could push for a World Cup spot with a string of consistent performances.
Should the deal go through, the Reds could potentially lodge a club-record bid for Aubameyang, who is also on the radar of several high-profile sides including Manchester City and Chelsea.
Despite his troubles at BvB, Aubameyang has made another bright start to the campaign with 17 goals scored in 19 matches across all competitions. Aubameyang is eligible to feature against Real Madrid in the final Champions League game on Wednesday night.
